Pop Americana songs that bop.

Nashville-based producer and songwriter Josh Wienczkowski has worked his way through every step of the music creation process, finally landing home as new Pop Americana artist, Josh Raines. Starting in a pop-rock band that signed a development deal with an indie label, he learned to navigate the music industry as an A&R as well as through tour production and event design before calling the studio home.

Through mixing and producing other artists such as Zach Royal, The Brother Nature, Melissa Dylan, Lexie Rose, and others, he honed the craft of building dynamic arrangements and complementing songs with colorful production. Growing up, his musical memories are engraved with Motown classics and pop music from the 60s and 70s. The early influence of Creedence Clearwater Revival and an “oldies” radio station playing nonstop can be heard in his pop melodies backed by lush arrangements. The angst of being a teenage pop-rocker can be felt in his guitar work that has moved far past power chords and octaves to rhythmic hooks that bop with the melody. His lyrics are peppered with alliteration and thoughtful prose, always finding the positive in life’s poignant ups and downs.

When asked about the last name change, he stated “my wife Kayla, who most of these songs are about, has been endlessly supportive of my creative process and she took my last name. It felt full-circle I honor her with my music and artist name. Besides, no one can spell or pronounce Wienczkowski.” Outside of music, he is a practicing physician, helping people with their mental health and recovery from substance use disorder, “I'm a doctor that helps people with their mental health, and I create music to help with my own mental health.”
